Walker Forehand

Director, Corporate Strategy and Chief of Staff, Office of the CEO

As chief of staff to Promontory’s chief executive officer, Walker focuses on corporate strategy and development; works closely with the firm’s management committee and advisory board to develop and execute on the firm’s strategic objectives; and is responsible for evaluating strategic investments, acquisitions, and partnership opportunities for the firm.

Experience

Before serving in his current role, Walker spent four years advising Promontory clients on matters involving banking strategy, financial technology, mergers and acquisitions, enterprise risk management, and various regulatory challenges facing financial institutions.

Prior to joining Promontory, Walker was a principal investor at Hovde Capital Advisors, a hedge fund focused on making equity investments in depository institutions and other financial services companies. At Hovde, he was responsible for the analysis and valuation of investment opportunities in banks and financial-technology companies. He sourced potential deals, performed credit and financial due diligence, and worked on mergers and acquisitions for the fund’s portfolio companies. During his time at Hovde, Walker served on the board of directors of Sunwest Bancorp.

Representative Engagements

  • Led a team from Promontory in assisting a large regional banking client with preparation of a resolution plan (“living will”) as required by the Dodd-Frank Act.
  • Developed strategic plans and comprehensive financial models to facilitate bank recapitalizations, mergers and acquisitions, and other strategic initiatives.
  • Developed credit and lending policies to govern the extension and management of bank credit risk.
