Daniel Bufithis-Hurie


Dan advises financial institutions and technology firms on risk management, corporate governance, consumer compliance, anti-money-laundering and counter-terrorist-financing controls, data governance, regulatory relations, business strategy, and financial inclusion.


During his tenure with Promontory, Dan has worked on AML/CTF and mortgage servicing forensic reviews; the assessment, design, and implementation of risk management and compliance programs; regulatory-examination preparation and response; consent-order remediation; regulatory strategy and applications; and due diligence on potential acquisitions and strategic partnerships. Dan is a leader in Promontory’s financial-technology practice and frequently helps innovative companies — particularly fintech startups focused on payments, lending, and cryptocurrency — develop scalable, risk-based compliance programs that meet regulatory requirements and support business strategy. Prior to Promontory, he worked as an analyst in enterprise risk management at the U.S. Energy Department's Bonneville Power Administration.
