Michael Livingston


Mike works with financial institutions to develop and validate statistical models and risk management plans. He has broad knowledge of and experience developing econometric and economic-optimization models to test hypotheses and inform public and private-sector policy and decision-making. Since joining Promontory, he has developed expertise in stress testing and modeling allowance for loan and lease losses.


Prior to joining Promontory, he was senior economist with the Economic Research Service, an agency in the Agriculture Department. During his time there, he published more than 30 peer-reviewed journal articles, agency publications, and book chapters examining externalities, the management of common-pool resources, and related issues. Before joining the ERS, he conducted economic-impact analyses for the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service, a regulatory agency within the USDA. Mike was also a postdoctoral research associate in North Carolina State University’s entomology department and an assistant professor of agricultural and applied economics at Texas Tech University.
