Tony Boorman

Tony advises banks, building societies, insurers, and consumer credit firms on governance and conduct risk, customer remediation, and compliance with U.K. regulatory regimes covering senior insurance managers, skilled persons, incentive schemes, and other areas.

Experience

Tony joined Promontory after an extensive career at the Financial Ombudsman Service, where he led the ombudsman’s handling of disputes related to the mis-selling of endowment mortgages and payment-protection insurance. He also oversaw the ombudsman’s response to conduct issues tied to investment products. Tony worked closely with the Financial Conduct Authority — along with FCA forerunners the Financial Services Authority and Office of Fair Trading — on conduct issues and the development of regulatory policy and rulemaking. He previously held senior roles in energy regulation, focusing on competition policy.
