6/26/14 - Remarks by Danièle Nouy Delivered to the Promontory Policy Institute

The European Central Bank posted the Tommaso Padoa-Schioppa Memorial Lecture delivered June 24 by Danièle Nouy, Chair of the Supervisory Board of the Single Supervisory Mechanism, at a forum sponsored by the Promontory Policy Institute. Ms. Nouy discussed the development of the European banking union, including the Single Supervisory Mechanism and the Single Resolution Mechanism, and the need both for convergence of European prudential regulation and the establishment of a truly European “supervisory culture.”

The Promontory Policy Institute was organized in 2011 to play a leadership role in the debate on major global financial policy issues, with the aim of promoting financial stability, global harmony, and economic growth. This annual lecture commemorates the life and career of Tommaso Padoa-Schioppa (1940–2010). Previous speakers include Jaime Caruana, Sir Howard Davies, and Paul Volcker.
