8/23/17 - Judith Pinto on the Data-Protection Regulations of APAC Nations

Judith Pinto, a director in Promontory’s cybersecurity practice, was quoted in a Wall Street Journal article about global privacy and data-protection regulations.

Pinto explained that Asian countries generally have more prescriptive regulations and more specific guidance than the EU and U.S. “Companies are getting very worried about exposure in the region,” she said. “With China’s new cybersecurity law, combined with different views [on how to regulate] from neighboring countries and jurisdictions, things can become difficult for companies that have broad reach in the region.”
