Colleen Cassidy

Director, Promontory Australasia (Sydney) Pty Ltd.

Ms. Cassidy is an expert in risk measurement and management across a wide range of risk areas. Prior to joining Promontory in August 2009 to establish the Sydney Office, she led Ernst and Young’s regulatory practice.

Ms. Cassidy began her professional career with the Reserve Bank of Australia and joined APRA when it was established in 1998. When at APRA, Ms. Cassidy held a number of senior positions including Head of ADI Liquidity, Head of Risk Models, and Head of Balance Sheet and Market Risk. Ms. Cassidy has extensive consulting experience within the Australian financial sector and works closely with the major financial institutions and the Australian Bankers’ Association (ABA).

Key elements of Ms. Cassidy’s experience are:

- APRA’s first representative on the Basel Committee’s Accord Implementation Group for Operational Risk and participated in the drafting of that Group’s first ‘Range of Practice’ paper on operational risk modelling;

- drafting the ABA Fact Sheet comparing the capital frameworks applied to banks in APRA and the UK FSA;

- a range of consulting assignments relating to the regulatory capital requirements of Australian banks;

- leading a team of risk specialists responsible for assessing model risks in institutions regulated by APRA.

Ms. Cassidy has a Joint Honours degree in Economics and Econometrics and a Masters in Quantitative Finance (with a major in financial derivative products).
